I went on a date a few nights ago, it was the second date, the first date had been a coffee date and it went OK, so I suggested we go out for dinner for a second date.
The food was good and I bought a bottle of wine which we both enjoyed. The conversation was alright, and I thought perhaps this woman might be worth seeing again although she did take a mobile phone call at the start of the meal which lasted 5 minutes and I thought that was a bit rude.
Anyway we finish the meal and we get ready to leave, and just as we are approaching the desk where the dinner is paid for, she excuses herself and disappears into the bathroom for 5 minutes, leaving me to pay the bill.
Now I was planning to pay for the meal anyway, but in my opinion it is good form for her to offer to pay her half especially on the first few dates when there is no commitment from anyone yet, it's just in that "seeing if I like you" stage. What annoyed me was that not only did she not offer, she went out of her way to avoid it by disappearing at the critical moment. It's not the first time I've had a woman do this to me, maybe it's a common trick.
